About Jerry

Jerry MacJerry McIntosh was, and continues to be, a motivational and inspirational force in the Marin County Community where he gained a reputation as a man who was only interested in helping others. A graduate of Tamalpais High School, a college basketball standout, a devoted father to his two sons, a wonderful husband and son, and a mentor to countless youths of varying backgrounds, Jerry simply improved the lives of all of those fortunate enough to be associated with him.

At 6’6” and 290 lbs, Jerry was an imposing presence wherever he went, yet no man of any size was more accommodating and friendly. Quick with a smile and a big hug, he had the ability to get past the tough exterior of the kids he worked with, and reach directly into the hearts and souls of promising young men, showing them that there is always a better way, a better choice, and the potential for a better life. Jerry was founder and coach of the Southern Marin Lightning Youth Basketball Club, the Tam High School Freshman Boys basketball coach, a teacher at St. Vincent’s School for Boys, the future Director of the Beacon Center, a big supporter of the Mt. Carmel CYO teams, and he was involved heavily with the YMCA in an effort to reach and help the disadvantaged youth living in Marin County.
